Post MSW Type 73

The Illinois State University School of Social Work is now accepting enrollment for the post-MSW Type 73 School Social Worker certification process. Social workers who currently hold an MSW degree from an accredited school of social work and want to be qualified to take the Illinois State Board of Education Type 73 certification for school social work can enroll as a graduate student at large to complete the required course work for state certification.

To take the certification test, three academic courses plus a field practicum and seminar that spans the academic school year are required.

These include:

  1. SED 411 Survey of Special Education
  2. SWK 461 School Policy
  3. SWK 463 Social Work Practice in Schools
  4. The field practicum would be full time and follow the school calendar. The field seminar is taken concurrently with the field practicum and meets once a week to provide integration of the advanced coursework with the field practicum.
