School Social Work Certification Requirements

(In addition to MSW with School Concentration)

Test of Academic Proficiency

You must take the Test of Academic Proficiency. and pass this test prior to proceeding to the advanced curriculum. Please have results sent to ISU (they will go to the certification coordinator, Lynn Stefen).

Federal Background check

Please complete your federal background check the summer before entering your school practicum (June or July).

Intent to Certify Form

Please download the Intent to Certify Form, complete, and sign the form. Then send to Director of Student Services, ISU School of Social Work, Campus Box 4650, Normal, IL 61790-4650

Assessment of Legal and Ethical Conduct Form

Please download the Assessment of Legal and Ethical Conduct Form, complete and return to Director of Student Services, ISU School of Social Work, Campus Box 4650, Normal, IL 61790-4650

Content-Area Test called School Social Worker (code 184) for certification

This is the exam for the Type 73 certificate that School Social Workers need.

The exam may be taken in the last semester of the MSW School Concentration. Information and registration available at:  http://www.icts.nesinc.com/
