Join us for Social Work Day 2019: The Art of Social Justice: Creating Community Change on April 1, 2019 at the Illinois State University Alumni Center from 8:30AM-4:00PM. This year’s social work day will emphasize arts-based practice strategies for partnering with communities to create innovative social change/social justice initiatives. Within the field of social work we often talk about community practice, and community organizing as macro approaches to build large-scale movements or community-based programs to promote social justice. Within disciplines in the arts, socially engaged art is an approach that aims to create art that engages with the public and/or social issues within society. This year’s social work day theme aims to bring together approaches from within social work, the arts, and civic/community engagement in order to highlight some creative strategies for social change.
Social Work Day 2019 is free to attend. There will be 6 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) available for LSW, LCSW, LCP and LCPCs available for $60.00. These CEUs qualify for cultural competency. Payment can be made via Illinois State University's secure U Store link that will be in the registration confirmation email. If you are a Fall 2018-Spring 2019 Field Instructor for the Illinois State University Social Work Department then the CEU fee will be waived. Please contact Anne Cook (firstname.lastname@example.org) after you register if you fit this criteria.
